Anne Sinclair of Kingscourt, Co Cavan

Anne Sinclair was recorded in Griffith’s Valuation of 1847 to 1864 as holding 3a 2r 12p of land in the townland of Lisanisky in the parish of Enniskeen from Colonel Joseph Pratt, with an annual rateable value of £3 15s.

She also leased a house, offices and yard from Col Pratt, rated at £9 at 4 Market Street, Kingscourt. Between 1854 and 1860 she was granted Magistrates’ Certificates for the annual renewal of a spirits licence, which suggests No 4 Market Street was a public house.

When she died on 11 March 1861, she was recorded as a widow. Letters of Administration were granted at Cavan on 8 May 1861 to Grace McGuirk, the wife of Laurence McGuirk, her sister and only next of kin. She left effects of less than £600.
